I setup a VPN server with windows server 2008 R2 (Install Windows Server 2008 R2 in Virtual-box) and use the Pre-shared key for L2TP connection and it is work fine BUT the difference is in the encryption status the encryption is "IPSec: AES 128" and in the past when i use Windows XP I remmeber that the encryption is "IPSec ESP 3DES" The VPN I was finally able to get it. I was using Windows 7 and 8 PC's. I made an incoming connection on the Windows 7 PC and made a new VPN connection on the Win8 PC using the public IP. I then had to forward port 1723 in the router to the privately addressed PC. I realize PPTP is the weakest type but I just needed to do it for my own sake.
